Strengthening Public-Private Partnerships in Azerbaijan's Food and Beverage Industry

A high-level meeting was held between the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Majnun Mammadov, senior officials of the ministry, and members of the Board of the Azerbaijan Food and Beverage Industrialists Association (AQISA). The meeting brought together key figures from the Ministry of Agriculture and leaders of Azerbaijan's prominent food and beverage production companies to discuss support mechanisms for the industry's development, expanding public-private partnerships, and addressing sectoral challenges.
In his address, Minister Majnun Mammadov emphasized that uniting companies and entrepreneurs operating in the food and beverage sector under a single association significantly contributes to the industry's growth. Highlighting the critical role of food production in ensuring national food security, the minister informed participants about the state policies in this area, support mechanisms, export promotion initiatives, concessions for entrepreneurs, and other key issues. He also acknowledged AQISA's role as an official supporter of the "Caspian Agro" Azerbaijan International Agriculture Exhibition and stressed the importance of continued participation by AQISA members in local and international exhibitions to foster growth and innovation.
Chairman of AQISA, provided an extensive overview of the association's activities. He noted that AQISA's primary mission is to protect the interests of entrepreneurs in the food and beverage sector and drive the industry's progress. Representing industrialists specializing in food and beverage production, as well as entrepreneurs engaged in retail, import, and export, AQISA focuses on actively contributing to Azerbaijan's economic development, fostering collaboration within the sector, and promoting innovation.
The meeting also addressed a range of topics, including:
Supporting the export of dried fruits and processed saffron products to foreign markets.
Expanding market access for processed meat products in Russia.
Tackling raw material shortages in dairy processing facilities.
Reducing dependency on imports.
Simplifying customs procedures related to exports.
Promoting the use of modern technologies and innovations in food and beverage production.
A productive exchange of ideas took place, and the entrepreneurs' proposals were documented. Relevant instructions were given to evaluate and implement these proposals to address the industry's current challenges and unlock new opportunities.
This meeting served as a critical step in reinforcing collaboration between the government and private sector, ensuring a more dynamic and sustainable future for Azerbaijan's food and beverage industry.
