Reflecting on COY19: A Global Journey Towards Climate Action

Wrapping up an incredible three-day journey as a COY19 Baku delegate has been a transformative experience. Out of 7,500 registrants from 170 countries, being one of the 400 selected delegates was an immense honor and a responsibility I embraced with great enthusiasm.

COY19 (Conference of Youth) wasn’t just an event—it was a powerful convergence of young leaders, changemakers, and advocates from every corner of the globe. Each delegate brought a unique perspective, but we were united by a common goal: to drive meaningful action against climate change and to amplify the voices of youth in shaping a sustainable future.

The atmosphere was electric, filled with the energy of passionate individuals eager to make a difference. From insightful presentations by experts to engaging workshops and breakout sessions, every aspect of the event provided new knowledge and perspectives. Discussions on critical climate issues sparked creative ideas, while collaborative sessions inspired innovative solutions that could be applied locally and globally.

One of the highlights of the conference was connecting with like-minded peers—individuals driven by purpose and committed to creating tangible change. We exchanged ideas, shared experiences, and built lasting relationships that will serve as a network of support and collaboration in the journey ahead.

The Global Youth Statement, the collective output of COY19, is a testament to the power of youth voices in influencing international climate policies. Being part of the process of crafting this document was an empowering experience—knowing that our perspectives, concerns, and solutions could reach the decision-makers at COP29.

COY19 wasn’t just an event to attend; it was a call to action. It reinforced the message that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow—we are leaders today. Together, we carry the responsibility to drive change, hold leaders accountable, and ensure that the fight against climate change remains at the forefront of global priorities.

As I reflect on this unforgettable experience, I feel a renewed sense of purpose and determination to contribute to a sustainable future. COY19 has left an indelible mark on me, and I am inspired to continue working alongside my peers worldwide to make a lasting impact on our planet.
