The idea of hosting the first-ever ‘UK Pre-Departure Orientation’ in Azerbaijan came from a clear market gap I noticed: outgoing students lacked a single source of reliable information about studying in the UK. Many students were struggling to find answers to their questions in a well-organized format. To solve this, the University of Glasgow Azerbaijan Alumni Association (UGAAA) decided to partner with the Dövlət Proqramı - Xaricdə təhsil.

Together, with other board members we crafted a comprehensive presentation designed to equip these students with all the essential information they needed before departing for the UK. While other student societies had announced plans to host similar pre-departure events, none had the same level of success as ours. This was largely thanks to our strong partnerships and the well-executed plan we put into place.

As a result, UGAAA proudly hosted the first-ever UK Pre-Departure Orientation, in collaboration with the UFAZ Alumni Network and with the support of the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ). We welcomed students from more than 20 different UK universities to this pioneering event.

The orientation proved to be an incredibly productive session, offering prospective students the opportunity to ask questions and gain essential insights about life and education in the UK. Our UGAAA board members shared their own personal experiences, providing valuable advice to those about to embark on their academic journeys.

This event marked a significant milestone for UGAAA, and it reinforces our commitment to initiating and hosting new projects—big or small. It’s just the beginning of more ‘firsts’ to come, and I’m proud to be part of such a dynamic and supportive alumni community.
